There was one scene featuring him where he was in a circle of statues and suddenly music starts playing and he just starts singing about Taoism like it's a music video and it just came out of nowhere and didn't even serve any significant purpose, but damn, it was hilarious. My favorite character is easily Swordsman Yim, he's such a hilarious badass and he's so much fun to watch everytime he's on-screen, to the point I was praying he didn't die at the climax. The characters are also enjoyable, Ning and Siu-Sing are both sweet and funny but nothing too interesting about them, and the villain, the Old Dame or Tree Devil is really cool and interesting, and I love the Evil Dead POV shot they use for this character. When we focus on Swordsman Yim, it's both hilarious, nonsensical, and full of fast-paced and badass action scenes. When we focus on Ning and Siu-Sin, it's romantic and whimsical. When it focuses on the ghosts, it's very tense and creepy. When we focus on the human characters, it's hilarious and it has a ton of great humor that plays with the supernatural horror tone. This movie does a great job mixing four different genres together, as they all fit perfectly and feel natural within the events of the story. Ning falls in love with Siu-Sin but has to save her from her fellow ghosts and Swordsman Yin, as well as from being forced to marry the mysterious Monster of Black Mountain. Around the temple, he meets a mysterious maiden named Nip Siu-Sin who turned out to be a ghost forced to seduce passing men to be fed to her master, the Old Dame or the Tree Devil. The movie is about a timid debt collector named Ning Choi-San who takes refuge in an abandoned temple with a bearded Taoist priest and ghost killer named Yin Chik-Ha or also known as Swordsman Yin.
